Watch The Color Purple at 5pm

Canary Wharf Summer Screens

29 Jun 2025

oin us at Canada Square Park for our summer Film Club running throughout June, July, August and September.

This season, we’re thrilled to present our largest-ever lineup of films, featuring everything from recent releases to cult classics. Our packed program has something for everyone to enjoy.

The Color Purple follows the life of Celie, an African American woman in the early 20th century American South, who endures immense hardship and abuse. Through letters to God and her sister Nettie, Celie narrates her journey from oppression to empowerment. Along the way, she forms deep bonds with other women, including the strong-willed Sofia and the charismatic singer Shug Avery. These relationships help Celie discover her own strength, self-worth, and the power of love and forgiveness. The story is a poignant exploration of resilience, identity, and the transformative power of human connection.

Our films are free to attend, just bring a picnic blanket and your favourite refreshments. Waitrose is conveniently located across the road for all your cinema snacks and the surrounding bars will be serving throughout the evening.

If you specifically need to bring a chair due to mobility or injury reasons, please speak to one of our helpful stewards before setting up. They will help identify a spot where you can put out your chair without blocking the view for other film goers.

To ensure accessibility, all our films will be screened with subtitles.
